A Long Weekend

On Saturday the boys and I had morning tea at Billy Baxter's with Dad and lunch with Mum. That afternoon, Liam built most of his Batman Lego Grandpa gave him for his birthday, but found a part was... not to be found.

On Sunday (skipped the swimming lesson as EJ has had a cold) the three of us went to the Fisherman's Wharf Markets at Port Adelaide, because I know there's a Lego man there. Not an actual Lego man, although he has plenty of those in his stall too, but a man who is an expert on Lego and sells parts. Click here to see his site; I have sent photos of two of Liam's finished kits to him, so you might see them in the Art Gallery section soon. Unfortunately he didn't have the part we needed in his stall on Sunday, but could get it from his warehouse of 80,000 pieces and bring it in the next day.

Monday was a public holiday for the Queen's Birthday (which is actually April 11th). We went back to the markets to get the Lego piece and trade some cards, and took Uncle Martin too because he wanted to see the model cars. Or, he took us - he drove from his place. Later, the boys and I also went to the Brickworks where there are more markets, but we didn't go for that. Every Sunday Liam asks for Mini Golf when there's not enough time left after swimming and washing to go, so we went to the Brickworks for that. We had to set a limit of ten shots each per hole or we'd still be there! We kept score in our heads per hole, so we all won a few each.

Today, Tuesday, there was a student free day. We went to the park for a little while, then Subway for lunch, then went to see Shrek 3. Not as good as the other two and a tad darker and more violent - maybe they figure the original audience is getting older. The boys wanted to see what fortune cookies are too so we picked up some of those for our cultural experience. Mine said To the world you are but one, but to one you are the world". Awww, mushy.

Here are some photos from the foyer of the cinemas. Spot which one's the Bart! Sean said there is one of these displayed in his local cinema too.

And who are the pussy and the as....... I mean, cat and donkey?

Much excitement!

Today the news helicopter landed on the school oval! Well... it wasn't exactly the news helicopter, because that was in for a service. So they brought the spare chopper, but that goes faster anyway so it was ok.

EJ was one of the students (one from each class) who got to ask the journalist a question. Here he is with his shirt untucked and a big tv camera in his face. However, they only used about three seconds of their footage on the news so I'm glad I got all the photos and video I did and gave it to the school on CD.

Prior to the chopper landing, EJ also spoke in front of the school as his class hosted the weekly assembly, so he's quite famous today.

After the question time, the journalist toured the school looking at fitness activities. Liam was running a relay and had to run two consecutive sections, as one team was a member short. So he flew through the baton-passing bit and onto his next section, flew up to the end and came first! Here he is flying:

See, I told you he was flying!

Speaking of flying, here are the kids cheering as the helicopter takes off:

And that Aussie doll has been behaving well today. Here she is with her original Aussie outfit and Australian flag clips in her hair....

... and her name bracelet: Joy!

The kids are growing up fast...

Just look how long they are!

Please read the next post (click "Imogen's Debut" on the left) - I added that tonight too.

Imogen's Debut :o)

Remember the little red-haired girl with the tarty old lady make up? (Scroll down to the next (previous) post to see her before pic, or click "Dolly Update" on the left).

Here she is in her new party dress and knickers, which are perfect replicas of originals, thanks to mum. I think the peachy rose goes well with her make up and hair and the green ribbon highlights her eyes. She has her name bracelet, with heart beads to match the dress; and looks much happier with her new make up, shoes, socks and nappy. Well, aren't we all happier when we have new underwear? When she gets her hair ribbon (same as the peach one on her dress), she'll be all ready to go. OK, that's enough flamboyant fashion parade words. (Yes, Imogen looks a lot like Erin's Lucy).

Dolly update

I think I haven't blogged any dolls since F (long-haired girl) and G (who was a boy).

~*~
Here is H. I forgot to take a "before" shot until she was in the bath. You can see a large stain on her left cheek. I thought Helen was a nice name for such a bright face because it means "bright one", but her face also made me think rose, so she's Helena Rose.

~*~
I received "I" today, as yet unnamed. She is in good condition but someone other than me has given her a very non-original make over. Her peach lips are now pink and somewhat pursed and the whites of her eyes seem to have been touched up with liquid paper. She has large eyebrows which seem to be a double line each. She has nice hair and a very nice hand made dress though. Unfortunately not an original (or replica of an original) one so she won't be wearing it long! No "after" pic yet".

~*~
I also received "J" today. She is an Aussie like C (Christy) who has the holey hand. I've taken a photo of "I's" leg and "J's" leg next to each other so you can see the Aussies are darker. "I" also needs a new ankle stitch.

Unfortunately J has some skin problems. Her nose is almost worn through and has pinhead sized holes; there's another worn spot on her left ear; and there's a small hole in the fabric at the top of her back seam. The only way to do a nose job is if you have a spare parts doll to donate skin for a transplant. However, she's an ultra long (hair) Aussie and I have an original Aussie outfit for her, so she should be valuable when fixed up. No "after" pics yet.

~*~
Don't panic, I'm sure I'll post "after" pics!

Anyone got any Laxettes?

(You know - just to keep my blogging regular.)

~*~

This is EJ's birthday cake (complete with name candles). Bet you can't guess how old he is!
(Clue: NOT 55!)

This is him blowing out the candles while eating jelly:

And here's the party, with EJ, Liam, a couple of kindy friends and a few new school friends:

That was all on the Friday night (25th) before his actual birthday. The next morning he was up early, which is unusual for EJ; and we had to wake Liam up for the occasion, also unusual. Here are excited EJ, blurry Liam, and some presents. In case you can't lipread, EJ said "Coooooooooooool!" when he opened the Transformers costume:

That's all I have picture-wise. Last Sunday we went to Port Adelaide and the dolphins were up in the river showing off, really close to the edge. I guess it was too cold to be out near the sea. We went to the markets there and the find of the day was a Hot Wheels car for $1. A big one. It looked like it should do something but for $1 it didn't matter if it didn't. Liam sat in the back of the car (the real one!) trying to work out his new toy on the way home....

"This is the STUPIDEST TOY EVER!!!!!! ........ OHHHHH COOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!"

He'd found several opening compartments with a ramp inside the car, so he can store other cars in it and drive them out on the ramp. There's a helipad and a tv screen and all sorts of good stuff inside. Even though it was pretty good just because it says S.W.A.T. on the outside, now it's really coooooooool with all that other stuff!

Today we caught up with the boys' best friends at McDonalds for three hours! Most of which was spent on the playground. They had belated Easter presents and party loot bags to share too so it was like a party.

That's about all we've done lately, but we have lots of plans for next weekend so there may be some blogging then.
